Curtain Players has scheduled its first script review and audition for the 2017-18 season.

The community theatre’s script review for Wendy Darling is set for Thursday June 8 at 6:30 PM with the audition Sunday June 18 (registration at 6:30 PM, tryout at 7). Each event is at the 5691 Harlem Road (Galena OH 43021) playhouse.

Heather Schultz — who helmed Five Women Wearing the Same Dress and Zombies from The Beyond — directs this new unpublished script by New York playwright Ira Hauptman, receiving its first fully staged production September 8-24.  In Hauptman’s darkly comic version of the Peter Pan story, Wendy’s mother sets in motion a journey that threatens to change her family forever.

Because Wendy Darling scripts are not available for loan and purchase, Schultz plans to use the June 8 script review session for a complete reading of the script. The event is also an opportunity for actors to become acquainted with the community theatre organization, to discuss the play with the director, and to ask questions about the audition process, rehearsal period, and production plans. Those interested in working behind the scenes are also invited to attend.

Curtain Players conducts open auditions. Roles are not cast in advance. Actors are encouraged to be familiar with the script. Resumes and head shots are helpful. An early audition may be requested of the director. The request for an early Wendy Darling audition must be made no later than June 1. Questions may be directed to production@curtainplayers.org
