The Central Ohio Theatre Roundtable has announced the date for its annual celebration of Columbus theatre. Awards night is Sunday January 28 at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus, 1125 College Avenue, Bexley.
A reception begins at 6 PM with the awards program starting at 7 o’clock. Tickets are $10 each and are available for online purchase at www.theatre-roundtable.org.
Nominations for production, performance, directing, choreography, and design awards are to be announced in early January.
Curtain Players is among Theatre Roundtable’s member organizations. As such, seven Curtain Players productions staged between January 1 and December 31 2017 (Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, Rabbit Hole, Trevor, Alice: A Variation on Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, Wendy Darling, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and Crimes of the Heart) are eligible for Roundtable recognition. The Theatre Roundtable determines its award nominees and recipients through its responder program. Volunteer responders — most active within the local theatre community as practitioners, patrons, and/or educators — review all productions staged by member theatres during the calendar year.
The January 28 program also includes presentation of the Roundtable’s Harold Awards, given for exceptional commitment to Central Ohio theatre. The Central Ohio Theatre Critics’ Circle, too, will present its annual citations.
The Theatre Roundtable mission: Theatre Roundtable is committed to the belief that knowledge of, and participation in, the theatre arts is central to human existence. The Roundtable shall act as a lobbyist, promote cooperation among local theatre, encourage the development of theatre-in-education, foster theatrical diversity, work to expand the general theatre-going population, and endorse the development of professional standards.
