Curtain Players has named a partial cast for The Trip to Bountiful, the fifth production in the community theatre’s 2017-18 season.
Director James F. Petsche announced the actors and their roles following the open audition Sunday January 14.
Nita Dean is cast as Carrie Watts, with Brian Henry playing the part of her son Ludie. Randy Benge has the role of the sheriff. Darnell Lautt is cast as Roy. Barbara Leeman is also part of the acting company.
The roles of Jessie Mae and Thelma are being call cast according to theatre protocols.
Set in the late 1940s, Horton Foote’s play tells of Carrie Watts, an aging widow who runs away from her son Ludie and daughter-in-law Jessie Mae and their cramped Houston apartment to realize her dearest dream: to return to her beloved hometown, Bountiful. What starts as an ordinary trip soon becomes an inspiring and life-changing journey of discovery.
Curtain Players presents The Trip to Bountiful March 23-25, 30-31, and April 6-8 at the 5691 Harlem Road playhouse. There is no performance on Easter Sunday, April 1.
