Technical Director Booth Muller has announced the next Curtain Players Set Build Saturday, a March 3 work event to construct the set for the upcoming staging of The Trip to Bountiful.
Work is to begin at 9 AM and continue into the mid to late afternoon. Volunteers are welcome for all or part of the day. The theatre provides pizza for lunch.
Muller said volunteers should bring along drills with #2 Phillips bits if they have them, but no experience or equipment is required for participation.
To best plan for an efficient work day, volunteers are asked to register by contacting Muller, at firstname.lastname@example.org
Questions about Set Build Saturday may be directed to Muller at that address.
Muller is set designer and construction supervisor for this Curtain Players Trip. James F. Petsche directs the production.
Muller said a second set build day may be scheduled for Saturday March 10, depending on the progress made during this first work day.
Curtain Players presents The Trip to Bountiful at 8 PM March 23-24, 30-31, and April 6-7, with 2 o’clock matinees Sundays March 25 and April 8. There is no performance on Easter Sunday, April 1. Tickets are on sale now. Click here to order.
Set in post-World War II southeast Texas, Horton Foote’s play tells of Carrie Watts, an aging widow who runs away from her son Ludie and daughter-in-law Jessie Mae and their cramped Houston apartment to realize her dearest dream: to return to her beloved hometown, Bountiful. What starts as an ordinary trip soon becomes an inspiring and life-changing journey of discovery.
