There’s always more to do in the theatre, and set construction for The Trip to Bountiful at Curtain Players is no exception.
A second Set Build Saturday has been announced for March 10 to allow volunteers to complete finishing work on and to paint the set for the community theatre company’s next production opening March 23. Bountiful Set Designer Booth Muller leads the crew.
Work is to begin at 9 AM and continue into early afternoon. Volunteers are welcome for all or part of the day.
Muller said volunteers should wear painting clothes. No experience or equipment is required for participation.
To best plan for an efficient work day, volunteers are asked to register by contacting Muller, at firstname.lastname@example.org
James F. Petsche directs the Horton Foote play, opening its run Friday March 23 at the 5691 Harlem Road playhouse.
Curtain Players presents The Trip to Bountiful at 8 PM March 23-24, 30-31, and April 6-7, with 2 o’clock matinees Sundays March 25 and April 8. There is no performance on Easter Sunday, April 1. Tickets are on sale now. Click here to order.
Set in post-World War II southeast Texas, Horton Foote’s play tells of Carrie Watts, an aging widow who runs away from her son Ludie and daughter-in-law Jessie Mae and their cramped Houston apartment to realize her dearest dream: to return to her beloved hometown, Bountiful. What starts as an ordinary trip soon becomes an inspiring and life-changing journey of discovery.
