House Staff Needed for 'Trip'

Curtain Players on March 23 will open its production of The Trip to Bountiful at the 5691 Harlem Road playhouse, and volunteers are needed to be house managers, ushers, parking lot attendants, and concession clerks for the eight-performance run.

Volunteers may sign up for performances at 8 PM Fridays-Saturdays March 23-24, 30-31, April 6-7 and at 2 PM Sundays March 25 and April 8. This schedule differs from the Curtain Players norm. To accommodate the Easter holiday April 1, the first matinee was moved from the second Sunday of the run to the first Sunday, March 25.

A Curtain Panels audience talk back is scheduled following that March 25 matinee.

Curtain Players is conducting a food drive through the play’s performance run to benefit Westerville Area Resource Ministry.

Players may field questions about the theatre’s volunteer program and sign up for The Trip to Bountiful house staff positions by e-mailing Debb Miller at volunteer@curtainplayers.org Miller is the board member in charge of the theatre’s volunteer program.

House staff must be 18 years of age or over, with the exception of ushers, who may be as young as 16 years of age.

The house staff jobs are important ones, as these volunteers have the responsibility to be hosts to patrons and to be caretakers of the theatre at performances from before the house opens, during the performance and intermission, and until the theatre closes for the night. Volunteers should note that many performances last season at the playhouse were near or completely sold out.

Curtain Players provides job descriptions to volunteers ahead of time. Curtain Players also encourages those who have worked in these positions to return and to be guides for new volunteers, thereby building the theatre’s network of experienced team members.
