The Curtain Players Board of Directors has selected Wendy Darling to represent the organization at the Ohio Community Theatre Association Central Region Festival on Saturday June 2 on the Kenyon College campus in Gambier.
During the festival – an annual event — member community theatres stage excerpts of plays representing their recent seasons. A panel of responders evaluates the presentations offering constructive criticism and recognizing achievements in acting, direction, and stagecraft. The responders also issue invitations to select member theatres to stage their excerpts at the state conference Labor Day Weekend in Columbus.
Heather Schultz directed Wendy Darling. Curtain Players on September 8-24 gave this new play by New York-based playwright Ira Hauptman its first fully staged production. In this darkly comic version of the Peter Pan story, Wendy's mother sets in motion a journey that threatens to change her family forever.
Details regarding the Curtain Players excerpt presentation along with OCTA event and ticket information are forthcoming.
The original Wendy Darling cast featured Randy Benge, Elizabeth Harelik, Brian Henry, Mackenzie Joseph, Jeff Kemeter, Ken Kline, Megan Lear, and Cody Schmid. Kirtsen Peninger produced the production. Wendy Brinker was stage manager.
