2019-20 Director Applications Open Thru Aug 20
Posted: Monday, July 23, 2018, 2:25pm
Curtain Players invites prospective directors interested in leading its seven 2019-2020 productions to submit applications for consideration now through Monday August 20.
Curtain Players will stage six Harlem Road playhouse productions between September 2019 and May 2020, and an outdoor production in the Westerville amphitheater in June 2020.
Brian N. Henry chairs the season selection committee. He recently received the theatre’s Volunteer of the Year Award and last season appeared on stage in Exit the King, The Trip to Bountiful, and Wendy Darling. He has served on the panel since 2016.
Questions about the season selection process and the theatre may be directed to President Heather Schultz at email@example.com
Prospective directors need to complete a standard application form and provide a resume of experience. Also, it is helpful to provide the committee copies of proposed scripts either in print or electronic form.
The application deadline is Monday August 20. Please e-mail materials by that date to firstname.lastname@example.org or send them by post to Curtain Players Season Selection Committee, PO Box 1143, Westerville OH 43086.
The committee in September will interview finalists chosen from the applicant pool.
The Curtain Players season selection process follows a model in which applicants propose scripts they want to direct. Curtain Players recognizes the importance of having directors engaged in projects about which they are passionate and for which they have great enthusiasm and commitment. Directors are expected to be strong project managers, too, so applicants will be asked to share their working processes and to discuss their philosophies.
Applicants are advised the playhouse has certain physical constraints — such as a lack of fly space and limited backstage areas — that may influence technical and design plans for a production.
Successful applicants will have either prior directing experience or theatre experiences such as technical/design positions, acting, or stage management that have prepared them for directing. Directors receive a $250 honorarium for their work.
