Weekend 1

A Weekend of Short Plays - Our opening weekend will feature several short plays and one-acts.

Evening Performances: July 17 & 18, 2009 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Alice In Gotham Land
    By Francis Gorman (Columbus OH)
    Directed By April Olt
Synopsis: An enigmatic doorman attempts to share his fanciful perspective on the world with a young girl. (One Act)

  • Meeting God on a Tuesday Morning
    By Jeremy Sony (Columbus, OH)
    Directed By Lisa Billing
Synopsis: Late for a meeting on a Tuesday morning, the last thing power attorney Jack Clark expected was to end up dead. And even more jarring, he didn't expect to be welcomed to the afterlife by a case-worker named Morty. Kicking around in a heavenly waiting room that oddly resembles his apartment, Jack is forced to come to terms with the man he was and the person he is, getting some help from someone who probably knew him the least, yet seems to understand him the most. With the help of Morty and their inexplicably shared secretary Hanna, Jack readies himself for the biggest meeting of his life.
(One Act; Staged reading; Contains moderate adult language)
Featuring: Stefan Langer, Sonda Staley Lewis, Don Roberts
  • The First Time: A Series of Shorts
    By Jaclyn Villano (Austin, TX)
    Directed By Don Roberts
Synopsis: Three separate scripts, each centered on the theme of "The First Time." (One Act; Staged reading; Contains strong adult language and themes)
Featuring: Rose Babington, Dale Bush, Kate Charlesworth-Miller, John Grote, Stefan Langer, Megan Pierce
  • Honeymoon
    By Rob Taylor (Lexington, NC)
    Directed By Tim Browning
Synopsis: Groggy and hung-over, Dan doesn't remember much about his bachelor party. The stranger who greets him in his bedroom the next morning, however, is only too happy to fill him in — starting with their matching wedding rings! (One Act; Contains strong adult themes)
Featuring: John Grote, Natalie Lloyd, Alycia Yates
Special Saturday Reading: July 18, 2009 at 2:30 p.m.
  • American Royalty
    By Rob Taylor (Lexington, NC)
    Directed By J.B. Jasiunas
Synopsis: Karen's life reads like a scandal in a tabloid magazine: Her boss is a sexually-aggressive cad; she's going into debt from her husband's addiction to (often bogus) Hollywood memorabilia; and his ex-secretary (back when he had a job) is an unabashed seductress. In a world where celebrities are treated like royalty and fantasy is valued above all else, will Karen be able to find a little reality in her life — or just reality TV? (One Act; Reading; Contains adult themes)
Featuring: Dale Bush, John Grote, Natalie Lloyd, Megan Pierce
