Curtain Players announces a first-ever Membership Engagement Event Sunday, July 13, at the 5691 Harlem Road playhouse. The 7:00-8:30 PM event is an opportunity for the Westerville/Galena-based community theatre company to present its new membership program, one designed to build its volunteer base and to offer meaningful engagement opportunities for those individuals who enjoy creating, learning about, supporting, and promoting live theatre.
The event is open to everyone at no charge.
The evening agenda also will include brief presentations by the theatre’s committee chairs, refreshments, and social networking during a festival-type open house where people can learn about theatre activities, particularly technical, production design, house management, and administrative opportunities.
“Curtain Players is a community theatre,” explains Allison Fagan, Chair of the Member Relations Committee organizing this event. “We are proud of the plays on our stage — and we have many chances to talk about those — but it is the community that sustains the organization show to show, season to season.
“We can do better and do more with a larger consistent base of active members,” Fagan says. “This special event is a first step to doing that.”
Curtain Players has been part of the central Ohio theatre scene for 62 seasons. Fagan says the organization’s renewed focus on membership — one of many initiatives launched by President Michael Day during his first year in office — is part of an overall goal at Curtain Players to foster greater interest and participation in local arts and culture and do so in ways that remain affordable and accessible.
The Member Relations Committee includes Fagan, Rowan Frazee, Sarah Merkey, Christa Metzger, Stephen Moore, Kirsten Peninger, and Jim Petsche.
