Unless specifically noted, all roles are open to all regardless of race or ethnicity.

  • The age ranges listed for most roles are a general guide and not compulsory for this director's casting purposes, with the caveat that some characters' looks and ages are relative to each other (e.g. Daniel and Elizabeth are around the same age; Everett looks older than "Mrs. Parker").
  • Actors of all cultures, ethnicities, and abilities are encouraged to audition.

  • Daniel Corban – (Male, late 20s-early 40s) Advertising executive, uses his boss's mountain lodge for honeymoon with wife who suddenly disappears; insists the woman who returns is not his wife; grows increasingly frantic and paranoid.
  • Inspector Levine – (Male, 35-50) Local detective initially assigned to the missing persons case, and then sifts through the clues in the subsequent mayhem to unravel the mystery.
  • Father Kelleher – (Male, 50-60) Local priest with a somewhat unique take on his calling; works to help reunite the couple.
  • Elizabeth Corban – (Female, late 20s-early 40s) Newly married to Daniel, worried about her husband's sanity as she insists she IS his wife.
  • Sidney – (Male, 25-60) Laidback and kind, local deli owner who makes amazing sandwiches and coffee; knows what's happening around town.
  • Everett Parker – (Male, 40-60) Daniel's cagey boss who owns the cabin; will understudy Daniel and/or Levine.
  • "Mrs. Parker" – (Female, 20-40) Accompanies Everett to cabin, not really his wife, blonde and attractive; will understudy Elizabeth.

Advertising executive Daniel Corban is frantic, and understandably so. His new wife, Elizabeth, has gone missing from a remote mountain lodge in the Catskills during their honeymoon. Police inspector Levine is called in to investigate this disappearance, believing a simple lovers' quarrel spurred Mrs. Corban to leave on her own accord. Soon the local priest, Father Kelleher, arrives with great news that Elizabeth has been found. When the bride returns to the cabin, however, Daniel emphatically claims that the woman is not his wife, while she strongly insists that she is. Who (if anybody) is telling the truth? Inspector Levine tries to follow the clues through the ensuing mayhem, twists, and turns. Can he determine fact from fiction, decipher the building paranoia, and finally solve this baffling case before someone gets hurt?

Bethany Schoeff returns to Curtain Players after having directed Laura in 2024 and Present Laughter in 2022. She has been involved at the playhouse as a volunteer and an actor since 2010, appearing on Curtain's stage in Last Gas (Lurene), On Golden Pond (Chelsea), You Can't Take It with You (Gay Wellington/Grand Duchess), Blithe Spirit (Ruth), All My Sons (Ann Deever), and Communicating Doors (Poopay). For over four decades, Bethany has participated as talent and crew in numerous other theatre productions as well as short films. She has directed musicals and skits at church, and in recent years she directed plays for Worthington Community Theatre, Aethereal Jest Arts Council, and Original Productions Theatre. Bethany's very first directing gig, however, came at age 5 when she would make her friends reenact Annie. Her favorite role to play now is Mom to three amazing adult kids, one bonus son, and a precious pup. Bethany thanks her husband for his loving support.

Where

Production Kickoff, auditions, and performances take place at:
Curtain Players Theatre
5691 Harlem Road, Galena, OH 43021

Curtain Players offers an information session for each of its productions as a help for actors seeking roles, but attendance is not required to audition. The event is an opportunity for actors to become acquainted with the community theatre organization, to discuss the play with the director, and to ask questions about the audition process, rehearsal period, and production plans. Those interested in working behind the scenes are also invited to attend.

Curtain Players conducts open auditions for its productions. Roles are not cast in advance, and, unless specified otherwise in the role's description, are open to all without regard to race or ethnicity. Casting decisions are made by the director and a casting committee comprised of (at minimum) a member of the theatre board, a general member of the organization, and individuals of the director's choosing.

Auditions will be cold readings from the script. Those who attend the production kickoff will have advance access to the sides.

Requests for an early audition for Catch Me If You Can must be made no later than January 24, 2027.

Questions related to the audition process may be directed to production@curtainplayers.org.

Rehearsals will be Sunday - Thursday evenings, although we probably won't meet every day to start, and you will not necessarily be called to every rehearsal. The Director will take into account cast availability and preferences to create the schedule, so please list all known conflicts on your audition form (this will not affect your ability to be cast unless there is an excessive amount of planned absences or if you'll be missing tech week (May 2-6) or any performance).
