Orphaned Mary Lennox, a ten year old English girl born and raised in India, is sent to the moors of Yorkshire, England, to live with a brooding uncle she has never met, on an estate that seems to be locked in the past. There, she finds her personality blossoming among the other residents of the estate as they bring new life to a long-neglected garden.

Kathy Hyland (Director) cannot describe how she feels about directing one of her favorite childhood stories. She received training from Ashland University, BA emphasis Acting & Directing. She is astonished to realize she has worked with over 20 professional, semi professional and community arts organizations, as a director, stage manager, crew member, Board member and actor. A few other directing credits include The Secret Garden & The Drowsy Chaperone (LTOB), Rest Assured ( Curtain Players) Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (King Ave. Players). But, her favorite role is that of daughter and grand daughter to the women that are her inspiration.

Thom Ogilvie (Music Director) is pleased to return to Curtain Players, having served as Music Director for last season's Tick Tick Boom. Thom has music directed all over the Central Ohio area, including shows for Licking County Players, The Lancaster Playhouse, LTOB, and Worthington Community Theatre. Thom is no stranger to the stage as well, appearing in many productions over the last decade, including Last Gas and The Laramie Project here at Curtain Players. Thom also serves as the Central Region Representative for the Ohio Community Theatre Association.

Curtain Players Theatre
5691 Harlem Road, Galena, OH 43021

Curtain Players offers an information session for each of its productions as a help for actors seeking roles, but attendance is not required to audition. The event is an opportunity for actors to become acquainted with the community theatre organization, to discuss the play with the director, and to ask questions about the audition process, rehearsal period, and production plans. Those interested in working behind the scenes are also invited to attend.

Curtain Players conducts open auditions for its productions. Roles are not cast in advance, and, unless specified otherwise in the role's description, are open to all without regard to race or ethnicity. Casting decisions are made by the director and a casting committee comprised of a member of the theatre board, a general member of the organization, and individuals of the director's choosing.

Please bring a picture and resume to auditions.
Please bring 16 - 21 measures of a prepared song, in a classic musical theatre style.
